Miele is without a doubt the king of top-notch home appliances. From induction cooktops to condenser dryers, Miele is the go-to when the Cheeky is doing a new apartment outfit. Thankfully, the wizards at Miele have also lent their design wisdom to crafting a choice vacuum cleaner.
The Miele S514i is a container-style vacuum that’s mounted on three wheels that are capable of rotating 360 degrees. Is this a big deal? Yes, it is. The rotating wheels will totally make a difference when you’re navigating around your buffalo-hide living room set to get at all the crumbs from last night’s dinner party. We say “you” because there is a very good chance with the Miele that you’ll want to do your own vacuuming and let the cleaning lady stick to wiping down the bathroom.
Of course, the Miele comes with all the usual attachments – dusting brush, crevice nozzle, upholstery tool and rug and floor tool. Also included is a PowerBrush for deep cleaning those shaggy carpets. The thing that sets the Miele far apart from other vacuums is its internal H.E.P.A. filter system that helps clean the exhaust. The filter is rated to capture 99.99% of particles as small as 0.3 microns. Now, those are some pretty nerd specs, but any allergy sufferers will really appreciate that kind of performance.
As for power, 1200 Watts is a ton of juice for a vacuum cleaner, and the motor definitely creates a black hole-like suction. What’s so impressive is that it runs quieter than most other vacuums. You will barely hear it, if you’re in the next room.
The Miele is priced higher than most vacuums at $800, but its definitely worth the splurge. This may even be the last vacuum you’ll have to buy.
